All week we've been practicing "how old will you be on Friday?" with Lucy. She would grin and say "two..." So I would follow-up with "how old are you now?" and she would answer "one!"
Chris's mom has been preparing her for today, too. She has been telling Lucy that she is having a lunch party with her friends Michael and Dominic. Lucy gets really excited about Michael. Thinking about him, getting ready to see him, actually seeing him... She prays for him multiple every time we do prayer intentions: "Who do you want to pray for?" always gets Michael at least once if not three times.
Chris's mom has also been talking about balloons and dresses and hairbows. Lucy loves her pretty bows and dresses (and apparently socks, too, whereas we had 5 pairs after losing several, we now have 15-20 or so!).
When Chris's parents showed up this morning, Lucy opened her first two presents. She got a (vtech?) cell phone with pull-out keyboard for learning numbers and letters, new dresses from Chris's parents, and a musical doll from her Aunt Theresa.
Today is the day. May 10th. Happy birthday, 2 year old! You are a wonderful little sister to Andrew and a great big sister to Patrick. You love giving hugs and kisses. You are also so cute when requesting them. You want to be super independent: "Me do it" is your new favorite phrase when it comes to getting dressed (which you attempt brilliantly) and putting on diapers (which you definitely cannot do) and putting puzzles together (which you are striving beyond the ages noted on the boxes). I still cannot get over how much you do not look like me, but I love your strawberry blond hair and beautiful blue eyes. It amazes me to look back at pictures of you just a year ago and to see how much you've grown. You bring me joy and challenges and I look forward to another year with you!
